Owen Carlsen
Engineering leader and founder · San Francisco
I’m the founder and sole engineer of Claire Daily Health, whose day-to-day operations run on LLM pipelines I designed and operate. Before that I spent 25+ years building scalable, distributed systems, most recently seven years at Apple, where I built new flows for its communications platform on Kafka, Kubernetes and GraphQL and was DRI for its internal email platform and a legacy service’s move to Kubernetes, directing three contractors.
Before Apple I was architect and lead engineer on Xoom’s PayPal and Braintree integrations and worked on its ACH payment rails. At Google I built the web console for its production alerting system, wrote libraries for its monitoring language, carried the pager as an SRE, and designed the AdWords 3.0 front-end platform. I also have more than a decade in health and life-science informatics, for the U.S. Veterans Health Administration, Kaiser Permanente and life-science researchers.
BA in Applied Mathematics from UC Berkeley, MA in Economics from UCLA. Inventor on U.S. Patent 8,200,661, from my time at Google.
